What is a glass splashback?
A glass splashback is a panel of glass that is placed behind a cooker, stove, sink, kitchen worktop, shower, etc. A glass splashback is a great design feature and is becoming more and more popular in homes across the United Kingdom.
Splashbacks are not only a fantastic design feature that help to transform the appearance of a home, but also have many other benefits which we will explain in more depth below…
Benefits of glass splashbacks
Protect your kitchen walls
Most glass splashbacks are placed in the around the oven and kitchen worktops. This protects your wall from cooking splashes, oil, grease, spills, hot steam, and also prevents your paint or tiles being damaged. We all know the pain of removing stains from paintwork or between tiles!
Hygienic & easy to clean
Glass is probably one of the easiest surface materials to clean, which makes cleaning a glass splashback quick and easy. Hygiene is important in any family home, especially the kitchen, so having a surface that doesn’t require maximum effort to clean is the way to go. It’s also a great way to save some extra cash due to you not having to re-paint and re-tile because of stains, spillages, grease marks, etc.
Your home is your own
Having a brand new kitchen installed is an expensive project to undertake. This is where a glass splashback really can make a massive difference. You can spend a fraction of the cost and still make your kitchen look brand new, With multiple different finishes, colours and designs to choose from, a glass splashback is an easy way to add a touch of your own personality too!
Easy to install
Having a painter re-paint or tiler re-tile your kitchen can be a time consuming task (not to mention the added expense). Glass splashbacks are cheaper, relative to the latter, and are much quicker to install when fitted by a professional with years of experience.

Factors that effect glass splashback prices
So now that you have an idea about how much different types of glass splashbacks cost, let’s take a look at what factors can effect the price of glass splashbacks…
- Number of panels.
- Size of panels – m2 area, also there is a minimum chargeable area of 0.25m2, so lots of small panels can cost significantly more because of this.
- Cut-outs – there is an additional charge per hole or cut-out. i.e. for sockets, light switches, utensil holders, shelf brackets, pelmets or downlight cables.
- Finish required – each finish is a different price i.e. standard colour, satin finish, metallic finish, sparkle finish, standard mirror, tinted mirror, antique mirror, toughened mirror, digitally printed, special FX, gloss, etc.
- Glass type – toughened or non toughened.
How to get a price for your glass splashback?
- Work out the approximate size of each individual panel.
- Work out the number of cut-outs or holes required.
- Decide on which finish or finishes you would like a price for.
- Take photos if possible, or provide any other useful information.
After you, or your chosen splashback supplier, has worked out the answers to the points above, you can then begin the process of designing and installing your new glass splashback.
